Pensions can be one of the more complex areas to deal with on divorce, particularly for family lawyers who don’t encounter them regularly.
Following the strong response to our Beginner’s Guide to Pensions on Divorce, Excalibur Actuaries is hosting a free introductory webinar to help family lawyers build their understanding of pensions on divorce and the role of the Pensions on Divorce Expert (PODE).
Wednesday 18 November 2026
12.30pm–1.30pm
Online | Free to attend
UPDATE: Due to an overwhelming response, this webinar is now fully booked.
You can still register to join the waitlist. If a place becomes available, we’ll let you know.
We’ll also be running this webinar again, and anyone on the waitlist who doesn’t get a place this time will be given priority access to the next session.
Please register below to join the waitlist.
What will the webinar cover?
Led by Excalibur’s Nicola Hooper-Greenhill, the session will look at the different types of pensions you may encounter, including the differences between DB and DC pensions and public and private sector schemes.
We’ll also look at when a PODE may be needed and, importantly, how to get the instruction right. Asking for more in a letter of instruction doesn’t necessarily get you a better answer. Knowing what you need from the PODE, and what you don’t need to ask for, can save time, avoid unnecessary cost for your client and result in a clearer, more useful report.
What will you take away from the webinar?
By the end of the session, you’ll have a better understanding of:
- the differences between the types of pension you may encounter and why they matter on divorce
- what to consider when instructing a PODE, including what you need to ask for and what you may not need
- what to expect from a PODE report and how it can help inform the options available to your client
Who is the webinar for?
This introductory session is designed for family lawyers who are relatively new to pensions on divorce, as well as those who would welcome a practical refresher.
